Why is backup of "versions"
better
than "days of backup"?
A "version"
refers to a change in a file.
When a file is changed a new version is created.
Most online backup services save the files for each day, between 1 and
thirty days worth.
But what if the version of the file you need was longer ago than that? What if the file became corrupted without you knowing about it, and has laid unused for months, but is still a valuable file. This is a common scenario. You might need to restore a version that was changed months ago.
Saving backups by versions gives you this protection. Savinbg by days does not.
Saving backups by versions is
better for protection from viruses and other issues as well. It is
usually the preferred approach for big data centers and larger
companies.
Ten Versions
Zocobu Online Computer Backup in the standard setting preserves 10 versions at
all times. This is sometimes increased or decreased by the tech team
for you, based on the needs and preferences you tell us.
In additon, files that have been deleted
from your system are kept in storage for 30 days. When we set up the
service for you, this period can be made longer, if that is important
to you, or shortened.
Support for network problems
If your network has problems that are preventing the backup
from running, we can fix them, although your servcie contract only
covers the backup software and service. If you want us to address any
network issue, we can and are expert in doing so across the Internet.
We would bill you at a cost per quarter hour of $35. Most problems are
corrected in a half hour or less.
